Those who wait on the Lord
Author:Crystal Lynn
We know the verse that says “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isa. 40:31)
What does it mean to wait on the lord? Sometimes we feel like waiting is so difficult, so hard. Why wait? If there’s something we need to say, why can’t we just say it at the moment? if we get a promise from the Lord why can’t we just go take it right now or if we get a word from the Lord why can’t we just have it when it’s spoken? because in the waiting God strengthens our understanding and anoints our perspective. It is not to silence or keep his blessing from us but to ensure that when we speak, receive, or react to something it is from a position of power, authority, and a perspective of truth.
It is so we are careful with our words and actions, so we speak and act within the boundaries of wisdom and not of our flesh. It will be by the power of His Holy Spirit and he will stand with you, he will go before you, he will be beside you, he will be behind you.
You only have that guarantee when you wait on the Lord. When you go forward in the flesh you do not have the guarantee of speaking and reacting in wisdom and truth with the backing of the Lord.
You want the blessing of the Lord on whatever it is that you want to push forward and do, because then there’s not a mess to clean up, there’s not a situation to deal with, and you can run towards whatever God’s spoken to you in confidence. You will not be weakened, or grow faint because the strength of the Lord will make you soar and stay in truth. When he says go you go, when he says speak you speak, when he says walk you walk when he says wait you wait.
To stay situated in this rhythm with him you have to spend time with him, it is not an option. It is a Daily Commitment, a daily Pursuit, and a daily decision.
